A Serendipitous Spaghetti Sauce and Crazy Things You Can Do.....

A few nights ago we bought vermicelli, sausage, tomato sauce and peccorino cheese plus zucchini.  The sauce turned out to be one of the best we've had in Florence.  The jar of sauce contained only tomatoes, basil and salt.  But we added a couple tablespoons of a garlic and black truffles sauce, left over from a previous pasta, and the combination was great!  Liked it so much that the next night we did the same thing with boneless chicken instead of sausage.

Things you can do on vacation when you have the luxury of time (it's a real blessing when you're old and get tired of tourist stuff after about 4 hours away from a comfy seat):
  • having gelato at 4 p.m. or even 6 p.m.(don't tell our granddaughter!) and then supper at 8 or 9
  • getting lost in the bus system because your route map is out of date, but just relaxing and riding the whole wrong route and seeing new parts of the city
  • reading a novel while John works on his pictures or writing a blog entry
  • not feeling guilty about wasting time even if you don't get out of the apartment until 2 or 3 p.m.
